KI'I, KA'U, HAWAI'I

The remote southeast coast of the Big Island of Hawai'i hosts some of the most challenging images found in the prehistoric rock art galleries of the Pacific.

Here are a few brief glimpses into another time. Preserved in stone these images contain lost stories of forgotten heroes and epic love sagas just as captivating to their ancient audience as our modern cinema.

These primitive pictures were a counterpoint in an otherwise oral society. Certainly  accompanied with words which imparted meaning to these simple symbolic lines, we are left intrigued and mystified by their hollow historical echoes.
